In honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2nd, we will celebrating Read Across America Week between Feb 27–Mar 3.
To celebrate, our school’s students may dress up each day next week as follows:
- Monday, Feb 27 — Fox in Socks Day (wear your craziest or favorite socks)
- Tuesday, Feb 28 — Read my Shirt Day (wear a school appropriate shirt that has writing on it)
- Wednesday, Mar1 — Cat in the Hat Day (wear red, white and black)
- Thursday, Mar 2 — Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America Day (wear your craziest or most colorful clothes)
- Friday, Mar 3 — Wacky Hair Day (we’ve seen some crazy hair in Dr. Seuss books, can you show your crazy hair?)
We are looking forward to all of the fun that next week will bring!
The February 2017 Battle Creek Parent Club meeting, originally scheduled for Wed 2/8, has been canceled.
We would like to thank everyone for their amazing support of last Friday’s Family Fun Night and the annual raffle fundraiser. We were able to raise over $4,000 at the event. The funds will be used to fund such things as field trips for our school’s students… class supplies… and more.
While the February meeting has been canceled, we hope that everyone will mark their calendars for March 8, 2017 and make plans to attend our next meeting. BCE teachers will be there to talk about topics such as the spring testing SBAC, and this is a great meeting for parents of students in grades 3, 4, and 5 to come learn more about what to expect for their children, and how to help them prepare.
The Battle Creek Elementary Yearbook Staff would like to invite students and parents to submit photos for the 2016-17 yearbook.
Our photographers can’t be everywhere, so if you’ve got great photos of school events (or just of your child and his/her friends having fun, etc.)… we’d like to see them! Please help us obtain as many photos as possible to create a terrific book that everyone will want to have.
To submit photos online:

- Browse your computer to select the photo(s) you wish to upload
- Enter information about the photo (and provide contact information in case the staff needs additional information from you)
- Click “Save Details”
Additionally… there is also an app you can download to use on your phone! It’s called ReplayIT by Jostens (find it here: APP STORE | GOOGLE PLAY). The app is a quick and easy way to submit photos right from you phone! Simply download the app and follow the easy instructions to get started.
It’s that easy! Please submit your photos today; the last day to submit photos is March 1, 2017.
The January 2017 Parent Club meeting — which was originally scheduled for 1/11 but was canceled due to inclement weather — has been rescheduled for this week and will be held on Wednesday 1/18. The meeting will take place between 6:30-7:30pm. As always, childcare will be provided.
One perk to attending this month’s meeting — you can purchase your raffle tickets for the upcoming Family Fun Night / Raffle Fundraiser ahead of time, in order to avoid waiting in line for a long time on the night of the event (many people were in line for 30-ish minutes at last year’s event)!
Because Salem-Keizer Schools are closed today (Wed 1/11/17) due to inclement weather, our Parent Club Meeting is also canceled.
We will post an update here, as well as on our Facebook page, as soon as we have more information about whether a make-up date is available for this meeting.
The first Battle Creek Parent Club meeting of 2017 will be held a week from today, on Wednesday 1/11. In order to accommodate the make-up date for the 1st Grade Holiday Performance, however, our meeting time has changed to 6:00-6:45pm.
As always, the meeting will be held in the Library at Battle Creek Elementary School.
Childcare will be provided for those who attend. We hope to see you there!
Our second annual Gift Basket Raffle Fundraiser will be held in conjunction with BCE’s next Family Fun Night on Friday, February 3, 2017. The event will take place at Battle Creek Elementary School from 6:30–8:30pm.

Back-to-School Night will be held tonight — Tuesday October 4, 2016 — from 5:45-6:45pm at Battle Creek Elementary School.
This year’s back-to-school night event will have a totally different format than what has been done in the past! The event isn’t just for parents anymore! Students are invited, as well, and there will be a bingo-type game for students to take parents on a “bear hunt” so they can show their parents around the classroom & school (introducing parents to their PE teacher, counselor, etc.).
Only two grade levels will actually have a class presentation from the teachers that night. Kindergarden will present from 6:00-6:15pm and 1st Grade from 6:20-6:40pm. All other grade levels will not have a teacher presentation this year.
